This course is the best starting point for those who are new to working with me.  Get to Know YOUR Colours was the first online class that I offered and it is designed to transition you to the program. After completing this module, you will appreciate the paints that you already have and you will be equipped with techniques and a set of tools that will help you move forward, make the most of coming to class, and especially when working in your home studio.

This 4-week module will be offered frequently, whenever new people want to come on board. Scheduling will be arranged to suit the participants. Contact me.

This course introduces contemporary artists and explores their approaches and artwork. Along with looking at the work of these daring young artists, this session will focus on the role of shapes: geometric shapes, free-form shapes, negative shapes, shapes. Colour will happen in every chapter as well: loud colour, subtle colour, no colour, minimal colour; colour theory is ever present in all we do. This course includes several exercises that are designed to encourage experimentation, while learning core art theory.

Overall, the course is suitable for enthusiastic beginners and experienced artists who are seeking new approaches in their art.

Chapter 1

We will meet an artist who is fascinated with shape, and we will connect her ideas with some intense work with colour.

Chapter 2

We will meet a young artist who created monumental work during her graduate studies and has never looked back.

Chapter 3

We will look at some emotionally charged work by a young American artist, while continuing to explore the role of shape and colour in his work.

Chapter 4

In this final session we will meet a young British artist who works intensely with minimal colour and shape and a subject matter that has fascinated her for many years, but that the whole world is suddenly intrigued by today.
